What we found
The coat we logged in the fabric-weight piece. After four winters the front edge is still crisp and the cuffs have been relined once. It is not a fashionable cut and that is most of why it still works.
Ordering note: the published chest measurement is the garment, not the body, and there is roughly 12 cm of ease built in.
Good
- Sits in the useful weight band and holds a lapel line
- Lining is stitched, not bonded, so relining costs about £70
- Enough allowance for a tailor to let out a size
Less good
- Shoulder runs narrow; size for the shoulder and alter the waist
- Horn buttons chip — ours needed one replaced in year two
